We are creating a new forest mountain monastery located in the Northwestern Adirondack Range of New York anticipating to open our doors in Spring 2012.
We are devoted to the health and well-being of humanity, culture and nature.
Recognizing the interpenetration of our Oneness within the universe as a trans-lineage and trans-faith expression, and manifesting a 21st century contemporary monastery that is rooted in the ancient forest lineages and traditions, an awakened and committed refuge life expresses our delight and songs of enlightenment.
We choose simplicity and harmony in order to cultivate and stabilize the Four Immeasureables – dispositions of loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity.
We choose to live simply in the forest in order to know ourselves as humans who are born of, and in harmony with, the earth’s elements.
We choose to live simply in order to love, protect and serve humanity, culture and nature as we awaken and hear the cries of the world.
Intentions
Our intention is to live a refuge life in harmony with self and others within our forest mountain environment, as a small community.
Our intention is to express a 21st century creative and integrative paradigm as a community of renunciates and laity - residential and non-residential. We are eremitical (solitary) and cenobitical (communal).
Our intention is to create and maintain an environment that models an organic and green sustainability in respect of humanity, the natural environment and universe.
Our intention is to manifest an environment for health and well-being, and offer healing services to our communities.
Our intention is to live ethically and compassionately in light of protecting and caring for all sentient beings which include humans, animals, and fish, as well as plants, trees, air, earth, and water.
We are committed to trans-faith dialogues and activities that assist in creating harmony and peace within humanity, culture and nature.
We are committed to uphold the purposes of Chojung Dorje Ling, as well as its mission to provide and care for a forest mountain sanctuary that is conducive to solitary and small group forest mountain practice, retreat, and ministry.
